Things to Bring

In preparation for making funeral arrangements, we ask you to review the following and bring those items that are applicable:

Vital Statistic Information

We use this information for legal documents such as the death certificate and Social Security forms. You can complete this document online and email it to us, or print it and bring it to your arrangement conference. Clothing, Including Undergarments
If you are choosing to have services that would include a visitation, you may want to bring the clothing that you would like your loved one to wear. If you are choosing a service that does not involve a visitation, you are still welcome to bring clothing. 


Photographs
At Baca's Funeral Chapels, we use photographs for many things.

  • Obituaries: If you would like a photograph to appear with the obituary, please bring it with you to the arrangement conference. The photo can be a large portrait or a snapshot with other people in it. We will try to isolate the image of your loved one and submit it to the newspaper. The Deming Headlight will give you an option of having the photo appear in color or black and white. 
  • Memorial folders: At the arrangement conference, we will discuss a variety of printed materials, including the memorial folders. These can include the obituary photograph plus several others.   • Video Tributes: A video tribute can contain up to 60 photographs and a soundtrack to capture the memories of the life that was lived. Directions on how to organize your video tribute photo scan can be found in our examples on our Creating Meaningful Memorialization page. 
  • Appearance: At Baca's Funeral Chapels, we strive to have everyone look as natural and comfortable as possible. Photographs help guide our preparation of hairstyles and coloring.


The Obituary

Each newspaper has its own rules and fee structures. You are welcome to write the obituary and email it to us in preparation for your arrangement conference. For sample obituaries, please see our Creating Meaningful Memorialization page.

Some Things to Think About

There are many details we will discuss as we plan a meaningful service for your loved one. It's okay not to know all the answers at the time of our arrangement conference, but give some thought to:

  • Location of the service
  • Do you have someone in mind to officiate or lead the service? 
  • Music: Are there musical selections that you would like to hear to make the service more meaningful? We can have live musicians or pre-recorded music.
  • Pall Bearers and/or Honorary Pall Bearers
  • Floral Arrangements 
  • Poems, scripture, or verses for the service 

Payment Options

Funeral expenses are classified into two categories: our charges and the expenses paid to third parties, such as the cemetery. 

As a convenience to you, we are willing to administer payment to third parties that you authorize. If you wish for us to make these payments on your behalf, please reimburse us for payments to authorized third parties before the day of the funeral. Payment can be made using any one or a combination of the immediate payment options described below. 


For payment of our charges, we offer both immediate and deferred payment alternatives designed to meet your needs, and we hope you find our terms to be equitable and satisfactory. 


Immediate Payment Options:

Within (30) days of the contract date, you may settle your account using any one or more of the following methods: 

  • Personal Check or cash. We may ask for authorization to run a credit check. 
  • Visa or MasterCard. You will give your credit card to the funeral director processing at the time of arrangements. 
  • Assign death benefits from an assignable in-force life insurance policy for the amount of the charges only. We will ask the beneficiary to provide the original policy, sign an assignment form and a claimant's statement, and we will request a certified death certificate.
