JANET KRAKOWIAK, of Deming, NM and formerly of Marine City, MI, New Baltimore, MI and Detroit, MI, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021, in Las Cruces, due to complications from COVID. Janet was born July 24, 1945, in Detroit, MI and was preceded in death by her father Joseph Krakowiak, mother Martha Krakowiak and dear friend Diane Bellack.
Janet embraced education and obtained a BS in Biology in 1967, an MS in Microbiology in 1969 and an MS in Public Administration in 1981 all from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Animals provided friendship, comfort, and unconditional love to her. She was passionate about Paws with A Cause, a non-profit agency in Michigan that trains Assistance Dogs for people with disabilities. Janet is survived by her two dogs, five cats, two horses and many friends who will miss her bold and spunky personality.
Janet had been an investment advisor and financial planner since 1982 and was a noted speaker on issues of retirement, financial, and charitable planning. She was passionate about working with families to discover their unique core values and the legacy they would leave for their loved ones. Janet's favorite saying is a seize-the-day sentiment from Jane Austen. " Teach us…that we may feel the importance of every day, every hour as it passes."
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Baca Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces. The service will be livestreamed (beginning at 9:55 a.m.) at www.bacastream.com .
Memorial donations may be made to Paws with A Cause ( www.pawswithacause.org ) or Best Friend's Animal Sanctuary ( www.bestfriends.org ).
