It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and dear friend, JAMES PAUL FRANCO, age 44, of Las Cruces. Born, January 7, 1977 in Alamogordo to Robert Franco and Mary L. Chavez. James was employed at New Mexico State University as a Grounds Keeper and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving mother, Mary L. Chavez; his sister, Andrea Chavez both of Las Cruces; his father Robert Franco of Fort Stockton, TX; other siblings that live in Texas as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elena and Johnny Chavez; paternal grandmother, Adeline Duran.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, capacity of attendees will be limited and everyone is asked to please wear a mask. Thank you.
Calling hours for James will be from 1 PM to 2 PM Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 PM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street that same afternoon. At his request cremation will follow and Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jerry Kirkley, Joaquin Bertoldo III., Ramiro Carrillo, Arturo Peña, Guadalupe Garcia and Orlando Flores.
