YOLANDA SANCHEZ LUCERO, lifelong resident of Las Cruces entered eternal rest on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the age of 70. She was born July 15, 1953, to Celia Sanchez and Willie L. Lucero. "Yolie" as she was fondly known to family and friends was a caregiver. She will be remembered for her big personality and unwavering love for those she cared about.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Gonzales and wife, Megan of New York; daughter, Cecilia Griego, and husband Dominick of Virginia; her loving grandchildren, Bryce, and Zerriah; two brothers, Oscar Lucero and wife Liz of Doña Ana and Willie Lucero and wife Patricia of Mesilla; four sisters, Sylvia Trevino and husband Tony, Olivia Barela, and husband Gilbert all of Doña Ana, Elizabeth Lucero of Las Cruces and Terry Lucero and husband Dickie of Mesilla. Yolie was preceded in death by her father, Willie L. Lucero on November 27, 2017; and a nephew, Gerald Barela.
Calling hours for Yolie will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road. A Graveside Service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be Gilbert Barela, Oscar Lucero, Richard Lucero, Tony Trevino, Rick Morales, and Steve Calderazzo.
