It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of William Ray Lawson Sr. on April 26, 2025. He was born January 23, 1967 in Sacramento, CA to Betty and Glenn Lawson.
William was always a man of great value. He started his lifelong career becoming a roofer at age 16 which allowed him to solely support his soon to follow family of five—what he would call his greatest accomplishment. He met the love of his life the winter of 1985 and knew they were forever. He made friends anywhere he went, always willing to share a drink, a ride, or a story. He was a fighter, survived cancer, early onset heart, and kidney failure. He lived. Always feeling the freest on one of his Harley's with his wife on his back—"wind therapy" he called it. He is a hero to his four children and twelve grandchildren and will be remembered fondly by his wife and all that knew him.
Those left to mourn him include his beloved wife Janie, mother Betty, sons William Lawson Jr. and Cody Lawson, daughters Amanda Lawson and Heather Lloyd, two sons-in-law Randy Lloyd and Demetrius Lloyd, one daughter-in-law Amy Lawson, he also leaves brothers Dale Lawson, Richard Lawson, Howard Lawson, John Knight, Stephen Mayberry and David Cheney, sisters Charlene Lawson, Peggy Fietz and Karen Mayberry, he also leaves his twelve beloved grandchildren; Nevaeh, Faith, Khloee, Randolph, Kaylee, Nataly, Maxx, Mickie, Kade, Luna, Piper and Izzy.
He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Lawson, his birth mother Barbara Knight, his uncle Dennis Mayberry Sr. and his brother Dennis Mayberry Jr.
A funeral service will be held on Friday May 16, 2025 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Visitation will begin at 02:00 P.M. and the Celebration of Life will begin at 03:00 P.M. Following the service cremation will take place and inurnment will be at a later date.
