Viona Fern Pinckard, 76, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, which she faced with unwavering faith and strength. She was born on December 10, 1949, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Julious ("Jim") and Inez Owens.

Viona was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, pastor's wife and friend. She poured her heart into her family, her church, and her faith, leaving a lasting legacy. As Proverbs 31:28 says, "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Today, we rise up and call her blessed, and we praise God for the gift she was to each one of us.

She is survived by her five daughters: Jana Inkpen of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Julie (Gary) Floyd of Yuma, Arizona; Jill (Aaron) Kayser of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Jamie (Leonard) Deale of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Joni (Jonathan) Saiz of Cedar Crest, New Mexico. She is also survived by her fifteen grandchildren: Rylie, Megan, A.J., Ryder, Mia, Jacob, Ava, Raya, Jonas, Nathan, Gia, Rayden, Melissa, Leo, and Alexis. She is further survived by her sister, Valerie (Sam) Martin of Claremore, Oklahoma; her brothers, Jimmy (Joy) Owens of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Randy (Hyland) Owens of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Viona was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Pinckard, and her parents, Jim and Inez Owens.

James and Viona's life verse was Philippians 4:19: "But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." This scripture served as the foundation of their shared life and faith.

Her legacy is not found in grand achievements, but in love, faith, and the resilience she instilled in her family. We each carry these gifts in our hearts. Though we grieve today, we do not grieve without hope, for Viona knew where she would spend eternity and spent her life sharing that same faith with others.

A service will be held at a later date, with details to be shared by the family.
