Obituary

VIOLA MODESTA TRUJILLO, "AKA GRANDMA OR MODY" was revered as the backbone of our family for ninety-two years, passed away on November 22, 2024. Born in St. John's AZ., on June 7, 1932, Grandma lived in many places to include California, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. As an avid traveler her journeys took her to Great Falls MT, Philippine Islands, Miami FL, Bahamas, Mexico and settled down in Las Cruces, NM. Known for her love of game shows with her favorite being the Price is Right starring Bob Barker. She also loved going to the casino, playing slot machines, bingo, cards and listening to Mariachi music.

Grandma was blessed with five children Ramon, Antonino, Angelina, Mildred Ann, and Dennis Jr. Preceding her death she endured the unthinkable heartaches' of losing two of her sons Ramon and Antonino.  She also had 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  She was the baby of the Tafoya family joined in rest by her mother, Isabel; father, Frank; 4 sisters, 4 brothers and her 2 sons, Ramon, and Antonino.  With a hefty family tree consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Grandma 's reach was as far as it was wide and cherished deeply by many.

Among Grandma's most significant accomplishments was raising her five children with only a fifth-grade education. She had a fierce work-ethic and worked many different jobs to provide the best she could for her children.  After she retired, she volunteered as "Foster Grandma teacher aid" at the local elementary school.  Grandma never wavered in her compassion for others and continued to support her family and extend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Her legacy is one of unyielding strength and generosity. With little means to spare, Grandma continued to give and help others. Even when sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for her loved ones more than she did for herself. Her life was dedicated to helping anyone who came across her path.

Known for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniably loving spirit she will truly be missed by everyone she touched. Grandma's loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength in those whose lives she touched.
