VICTORIA "VICKIE" HERNANDEZ
Vickie Hernandez, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Berino, NM on Friday, February 21, 2025. Born December 23, 1938, to Fernando and Hipolita Morales. She was a lifelong resident of Berino and attended Gadsden Jr High and Gadsden High School, where she met the love of her life Ignacio "Nacho" Hernandez. They married in 1956 and shared 68 years of beautiful memories. Vickie worked over 30 years for Hanes Legg's and Sara Lee until her well-earned retirement in the mid 90's.
Vickie was a passionate woman who loved life. Her interests include bowling and golf through which she made countless lifelong friendships. She was a member of Dos Lagos Country Club and Anthony Country Club earning numerous accomplishments and awards both in Golf and Bowling. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas. Vickie had a fierce competitive spirit and dedicated herself 100% to everything she did. Vickie legacy is one of determination, kindness, and loyalty. Her ability to lift others with her energy and spirit will never be forgotten.
Vickie is survived by her loving husband, Nacho Hernandez; son, Willie Hernandez (Martha Ramirez); daughter, Letty Lerma (Mike Land), brother-in-law, Lorenzo "Speedy" Hernandez (Peggy) and her #1 prima, Fina Nicolitz. Other survivors include 4 grandchildren, Juliana Hernandez, Fernie Hernandez, Iziah Lerma, and Claudia Lerma (Brandon Achenbach); and 5 great-grandchildren. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando, and Hipolita Morales.
Rest in Peace, you will forever be in our hearts and your spirit will continue to inspire everyone who know you every day.
Visitation for Mrs. Hernandez will begin at 10 AM Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Berino Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be Willie Hernandez, Iziah Lerma, Mike Land, Ezra Villegas, Fernie Hernandez and Chuy Silva.
