Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and brother Victor V. Arguello. Victor made his journey home to the Lord on January 31,2024 in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Victor was born July 25,1941 in Santa Fe, NM to Cipriano and Reynalda Vigil Arguello. The family later moved to Dona Ana, NM. At the age of 18, he joined the Army National Guard and then served in the U.S. Army where he proudly completed a tour in Vietnam from 1967-1968.

Upon his return home, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for WSMR where he retired. He then began his career as a professional truck driver, and he gained his CB handle "Sno-ball". While working for John Wasson Trucking, he had the opportunity to drive alongside his brother and son for many years. He passed his passion and legacy as a truck driver along to his son, Victor Jr. and grandsons Bobby and Victor III.

Victor met the love of his life Irene and the two were married for 51 years. They moved from Dona Ana to Brazito, NM where they made their home. Victor filled his life in finding joy in taking care of his yard, restoring his 1964 Impala, having visitors and simply watching the trucks go by on the highway from his garage. But his true love and what he treasured most, was his family. He will be fondly remembered for being the loyal, hardworking, honest, outspoken man's man that he was and for the profound impact he made to all that knew and loved him.

Welcoming him in heaven are his beloved wife Irene, daughter Patricia, parents, brothers, and sister. Victor leaves behind daughters Mary Esther May (Larry), Lisa (Jim) Quinones, Becky (Alberto) Marquez, son Victor (Shelly) Arguello Jr., grandson/sons Steven, Bobby, and Richad Valenzuela as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those that were kind and gentle in their care for him—caretaker Viri, staff at U.S. Renal Care, Dr. Zahir, MVRMC, MMC, and RHSNM.

A Prayer Vigil for Victor will be at 10:30am, Friday, February 23, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 3600 Paroquia Street. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00am.
