THOMAS G. DEASON, aged 85, of Dona Ana, New Mexico, passed away September 17, 2025.

Tom was born in Glenmore, Louisiana, to John and Erna Deason. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the United States Army. While stationed in Cleveland, Ohio, he married Margaret Baitt on November 28, 1959. Together they built a family from love and faith and shared countless memories in their 50-year marriage before her passing.

For over 30 years, Tom served as a federal law enforcement officer with the U.S. Border Patrol and various other government agencies, as well as volunteering to serve as a rehired annuitant for several years following his retirement. His employment resulted in him moving across the country, living in Texas, California, Ohio, Montana, Georgia, and ultimately New Mexico.

Tom lived a life full of adventure and devotion. He had a passion for traveling, target shooting, and flying. He was a faithful Catholic and a devoted parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he found great joy in attending Mass. He valued time with family, shared many stories of his travels, and will be remembered for his humor and steadfast faith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Deason; mother, Erna Beal; and father, John W. Deason.

Tom was blessed to find happiness again when he met Josephine Chavez, and they married in 2012.

Tom is survived by his wife, Josephine Chavez Deason; brother, J.W. Deason; children, Carol A. Pollard (Mike); Thomas G. Deason, Jr.; Patrick T. Deason (Judy); stepchildren, Felica Krynitz; Cindy Burrell (George); Anthony Chavez (Kris); and grandchildren Kenneth, Ryan, David, Kevin, Andy, Shelby, Estrella and Christopher; step-grandchildren J.C. (Jae Young); Jim (Trina); Justin (Adryana); Sheila (Billy); Katrina (Jay); Paul; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday November 3, 2025. Rosary will begin at 10:00 am. Funeral to follow at 10:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral in Las Cruces 1240 S. Espina Street.
