It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to someone we love and cherish, our beloved Sylvia Gallegos Marrujo, 62, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter.  Sylvia was called home to join her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2023.

Sylvia was born on November 28,1961 in Las Cruces, NM to Ernestina M. Gallegos, and Jose R. Gallegos (deceased). She was the driving force of Nopalito Restaurants as the General Manager, serving the Las Cruces community for 40 years, she was also co-owner of Al's Glass and Screen Co with her husband.  However, her greatest role was as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to three wonderful grandsons.

She was an avid runner and participated in several marathons.  In addition, she enjoyed reading, bicycling and was extremely talented in arts and crafts.  Sylvia will be remembered for her warm hugs, beautiful smile, and contagious laughter.  She had a unique way of teaching and inspiring others through her dedication and strong work ethic.  Her family, friends, and employees will aspire to continue her extraordinary legacy.

Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Albert Marrujo, daughter, Marissa Marrujo, and son, Alex Marrujo, and her grandsons: Damien (Tuffy) Marrujo, Alessandro (Sando) Marrujo, and Amelio (Melo) Marrujo.  She is also survived by her mother, Ernestina M. Gallegos and siblings: Marianne Gallegos Winkler (James Winkler), Patricia Gallegos, Victor Gallegos, Ernest Gallegos (Diane Gallegos), and Melissa Gallegos Paul (Eric Paul), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jose R. Gallegos, grandmother, Leonor Anaya, and mother-in-law, Lupe Marrujo.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on January 3, 2024, at Heart for the World Church, 1605 S. Valley Dr., Las Cruces, NM.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho Ave, Las Cruces, NM where she will be laid to rest.

Serving as pallbearers are Gabriel Gallegos, Steven Gallegos, Andrew Gallegos, Daniel Gallegos, Cody Murillo, and Andres Pena.
