With profound sadness and loving remembrance, the family of STEVEN LEDESMA FERNANDEZ, 65, of Las Cruces, announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born April 30,1960, to Mary Lou Ledesma and Jesus Ortega Fernandez, Steven was a man deeply rooted in faith, family, and tradition. He dedicated many years of service to the City of Las Cruces, quietly and faithfully serving the community he loved. He built a life centered on family, hard work, and the simple joys that meant the most to him.

Steven was a true outdoors man. Whether he was casting a fishing line at sunrise, hunting in the crisp morning air, riding his motorcycle down an open road, horseback riding or enjoying a round of golf. He embraced life with a spirit of adventure. Some of his happiest moments were spent alongside his wife Lorraine. Steve always shared stories, laughter, and the simple joys of being together. He absolutely adored his family and his grandchildren. They were the light of his life and his greatest pride. Nothing brought him more happiness than being "Grandpappy" or "Papa," he cherished every hug, story and moment he spent with them. Together, Steven and Lorraine built a life grounded in love, loyalty, laughter and faith. Their marriage was filled with devotion and steady support through every season of life. Steven was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and lived every day with humility, kindness and gratitude.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Lorraine; his sons, Steven Jr. (Yvette), Nicholas (Gianna), Marco and daughter Celeste (Hector). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren who brought him endless joy and whom he loved beyond measure. He is survived by his sisters, Bernice (Richard), Sylvia (Edward), and Cynthia, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure his memory. He now joins his beloved parents and sister Yolanda Salcido, in eternal rest.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing his legacy lives on in the strength of his family, the values he instilled and the countless memories we will carry with us always.

At Stevens' request, cremation has taken place. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 11 AM Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Basilica de San Albino in Mesilla, followed by a Memorial Mass with The Reverend Christopher Williams, Celebrant. Inurnment of cremains will follow at the San Albino Columbarium.
