Obituary

STELLA ALDERETE went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 72. She passed away peacefully in the morning hours at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and dear friend. She was born October 18, 1952, in Mesa, Arizona to Felix Valencia and Celia Carabajal Lucero.

Stella, a devoted mother of two children, dedicated her life to nurturing her family and creating a warm, loving home. Her hands, skilled in the art of sewing, crafted countless cherished pieces. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, friends, giving heart and her kindness. Stella was a member of Mesilla Valley Baptist Church and Director of Vacation Bible School for many years. Stella had a passion for crafts and had an artistic way of creating beautiful pieces for others. She found joy in the simple act of creating for the enjoyment of others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Everyone who was acquainted with Stella knew that she was a kind individual who always put others before herself.

Stella worked in quality control and sewing for L'eggs for 20 years. In the early 90's Stella stopped working to devote her time to her kids and husband. Stella volunteered at her children's school and enjoyed helping with field trips and crafts. Helping others with her talent was something she enjoyed dearly. Her family and friends will miss her more than words can say.

Those left to mourn her passing include her loving husband, Richard; son Joshua Alderete (Christina Mendivil); grandchildren, Matthew and Gabriella. Other survivors include her siblings Felix, Cynthia, Sandra and Bridgit. Stella was preceded in death by her son, Jason Alderete, daughter, Celeste Alderete; parents, Celia Carabajal Lucero, Felix Valencia, Edna Alderete; sister, Eva Carabajal, and other family members.

The morning service for Stella is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with Pastor Guillermo Hernandez officiating. Concluding Service and Inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho Ave, where she will be laid to rest.

A reception will take place back at Mesilla Valley Baptist Church, following the burial, where we will share memories and stories of Stella.
