Obituary

SOLEDAD “CHOLE” CORRAL, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, surrounded by family at home in hospice care.

She was born to Jesus and Vicenta “Chenta” Corral on May 3, 1940, in Villa Matamoros, Chihuahua, Mexico and was an only child. Her father passed away when she was young and she came to the United States with her mother who worked caring for the Stahmann children. As a teenager, she determined school was not for her and entered the workforce at Stahmann Farms doing many different jobs in her 18-year career there. She went on to work at Sara Lee Hosiery for 18 years and retired to care for her elderly mother. On July 4, 1989, she became a United States citizen, which was very important to her. She later worked toward her GED but never finished the last segment, Math, her most disliked subject.

Chole was a strong, hardworking, and determined woman whose life was marked by perseverance, dedication to her family, and faith in God.

Family was at the heart of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with loved ones. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she took great pride in them, showed her love through her actions, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and cheered them on in everything they have done and continue to do.

Chole will be remembered for loving to work in her yard, dance, weave, and make tortillas and tamales. Her family will remember her most for the many ways she cared for those around her.

Chole was preceded in death by her beloved son, Miguel “Mike” Angel Herrera and both of her parents.

She is survived by her sons Manuel (Gabriela) Rivera Jr. and Frank (Jerri) Herrera, her grandchildren Gabriel (Cynthia) Rivera, Vanessa (Diego) Torres, Christian Rivera (Allyson), Cody (Jennifer) Herrera, Miguel Herrera Jr., and great-grandchildren Michelle Musgraves, Isaiah Rivera, and Grayson Herrera, and numerous extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Friday, November 6, 2026, at San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 NM-28, San Miguel, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10 AM and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM with the Reverend Alonso Quinonez, Celebrant. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and Inurnment of her cremated remains with her mother will take place at a later date.

Serving as casket bearers will be Gabriel Rivera, Christian Rivera, Cody Herrera, Miguel Herrera Jr., Jeremiah Gonzalez, and Diego Torres.

Though she is no longer with us, Chole’s strength, perseverance, and the memories she created will live on through the generations of family she leaves behind. Her dancing days on earth have ended, but we imagine her dancing among the angels, where the music never stops.
