Obituary

Socorro Salcido Serna, 89 of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on February 25th. Cocoy as she was fondly known to many, was born in Mesilla Park, New Mexico to Paulo and Martina Salcido on April 8th, 1934. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. She was committed to her faith at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Cocoy lived such a fun, loving life. Always telling her jokes, bringing laughter to all. She loved to sing to her favorite songs, dancing like no other. She loved her Dallas Cowboys, along with her bud lights always with a glass of ice. She loved to cook and always made sure there was enough for everyone. She had a heart of gold loving like you wouldn't believe anyone could love. She will be greatly missed by all.

Coy is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Jose Serna, three sons, Tom (Nancy), Ronnie (Carol), Lionel (Angela), and only daughter Susie Carrillo (Edward), 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Cocoy was preceded in death by 13 siblings to include 8 brothers: Joaquin, Francisco, Luis, Jose, Cipriano, Alfredo Salcido, Lico Portillo, and Angel Salcido. 6 sisters: Emilia Amparan, Francisca Portillo, Marciala Duarte, Victoria Baca, Maria Antonia Baldon, and Socorro Salcido.

Time and date of services are as follows.

Services for Socorro will be held Friday March 8th, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Tortugas. Rosary will be from 10:00-10:30 A.M. with funeral mass following at 10:30-11:30 A.M. Casket bearers will be, Edward Carrillo III, Matthew Serna, Damian Flores, Edward Carillo Jr, Phillip Flores, and Brent Kelley. Cremation will be taking place at a later date.
