Obituary

In the late hours of February 20, 2024, our beloved father completed his journey in this life and passed over to eternal rest.  Silas Edward Garcia was born on December 16, 1959, and raised in Las Cruces.  Our family called him by the name Eddie.  Silas Edward Garcia is survived by his parents Silas Escobedo and Genevieve Rodriguez Garcia; his children, Silas Andrew "Andy" Garcia and wife April Estrada, Deborah Michelle Padilla and husband Jose; his grandchildren Daijah Padilla, Delilah Padilla, Jasmin Strain, Joelyssa Marquez, Michael Marquez, and Memorie Silva; his great grandchildren, Ezra, Zion, Elizah, and Iverley; his sisters Laura Garcia, Felicia Manzanares and husband Carlos; his brother Samual Garcia and husband Barry Klein; and many others who lovingly called him uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.

Eddie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Simon Trujillo and Juana Escobedo Garcia, maternal grandparents Bentura DeLaO and Inez Miranda Rodriguez and grandparents Andres and Josefita Trujillo Garcia.

Eddie was a graduate of Las Cruces High School.  He worked for Bimbo (Rainbow) Bakery in El Paso and Silver City for many years, later working for and retiring from the City of Las Cruces where he served as a Gas Meter Mechanic in the Utilities department.  In addition to his full-time work with the city, he served as a bartender at Palacio Bar in Mesilla.  He loved spending his time with family and friends and cherished the relationships he built over the years.  He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed hosting gatherings where he would cook for and visit with family and friends.   While we will miss him dearly, we will move forward celebrating his life and the beautiful memories he left behind.
