Shirley Jeanne (Manning) Triguero, 88, of Caballo, NM, passed peacefully on July 20th, 2024, in her home surrounded by her devoted children Anthony Wayne Corbin (Catlin, IL), Janice Renea Corbin (Hatch, NM), Raney Jo Weiler (Caballo, NM), and Kelly Christine Weiler/Marty Martinez (Las Cruces, NM), her beloved pup Sno her "guardian angel", and Pepe the cat.

She was born and raised in the small farming community of Catlin, Illinois, to Dorothy (Yount) Manning and George "Skinny"Manning. She grew up an only child, but cherished the memories of family get-togethers where she played with her many cousins. She was a wonderful pianist and seamstress, and loved fishing and hunting mushrooms with her father. Her father George died at a young age while Shirley was still attending Catlin High School, where she graduated from in 1954.

After marrying and leaving Illinois, the young family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she lived until 1980.  Here Shirley worked as a school secretary, and enjoyed being involved with Arts and Craft fairs with friends.  It was also here where Shirley instilled her children with a love of nature with many adventures to the ocean and mountains. The family also spent a short but memorable time in the Philadelphia, PA, area where they made lifelong family friends. In 1980 the family relocated to New Mexico.

In 1990 while working at the Dona Ana County Clerk's Office in Las Cruces, NM, Shirley met and married the love of her life Joseph Triguero. She became stepmother to his three sons Dale, Roy and Jason Triguero. As an only child she "always wanted 10 children" so she was happy to add 3 more to her brood.  Shirley and Joe later moved to Clovis, NM, when Shirley took a job working as an agent for Horace Mann Insurance. Her work also took them to Albuquerque, NM, for several years.  After Shirley's retirement they moved to Sebring, Florida, to be closer to her mother in her final years.

After Joe's passing in 2002 she returned to New Mexico to be close to her children again.  After experiencing damage to her home in the Hatch floods in 2006, she found her "paradise" in her lakeside home in Caballo, New Mexico, where she was surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors. This became the family's happy place with time spent on the porch watching the lake, sunsets, and the birds at her bird feeders and the amazing Sandhill crane migrations overhead.

Shirley did not wish to have any formal memorial services. But please leave your remembrances here for others to share.
