With sadness in our hearts but gratitude for her life, the family of Sherri Annette Harris Mitchell announces her passing on August 29, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Sherri was welcomed into the world on April 28, 1965, to the late Wilmer and Ruth Harris.

Sherri's childhood was filled with love and faith. She attended Our Lady of the Rosary Elementary School, where she met her late husband, Joseph Mitchell. She graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls. Sherri earned her Associate's degree in hospitality at Community College of Philadelphia and her Bachelor's degree in Hospitality at Cheyney University.

With her degrees in Hospitality, Sherri went on to build a career with Sheraton and Omni Hotels. She later enjoyed her role as a barista with Dutch Brothers and, most recently, was proud to be in the process of qualifying as a cruise ship agent. Beyond work, Sherri's greatest joy was becoming a devoted mother to her three daughters.

She is survived by her daughters, Krystal Harris, Jasmine Mitchell, and Layla Mitchell; granddaughter, Andromeda Harris; her siblings, Carolyn Carter (née Harris), Denise Owens (Gilbert), Nicholas Harris, and Michalia Troutner (Ryan); her godbrother, Warren Parker (Bonnie); Alberta Harris (Aunt), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sherri will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the joy she brought to those blessed to know her. Her legacy of love will continue through her family and friends, who will forever cherish her memory.

Fellowship/Repast will be on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 2pm, at First Church of the Nazarene, 1900 S. Locust Street, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
