It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, Servando S. Martinez on June 1, 2026, at his home in Radium Springs, New Mexico.

Servando went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loved ones who would spend all day with him, sharing life lessons, jokes, and sharing wonderful memories, hugs, kisses, and lots of love.

Servando was the devoted husband to the love of his life Viviana for 71 years. He was a hard-working, providing father to Raul (Sue), Ramona ( Ebrahim), Ernesto (Helen), Alejandro (Maria Soledad) Mariano, and Eduwiges (Mauro). Servando was the adored grandfather of Karim, Jason, Afsheen, Joey, René, Jennifer, Armin, Celeste, Ian, Melissa, Noél, Aaron, Mauro, Santana, Analyssa and Rowan. He was the proud, great grandfather of 24 great grandchildren.

Servando was born in Jesus Carranza, distrito Bravo, Chihuahua, México on June 19, 1929 to Mariano and Consuelo Sanchez Martinez and was one of nine children. Servando was a hard-working young man who grew up working the family farm in Mexico. He became part of "bracero program" in which he was able to establish residency. He worked in California, Arizona, Texas, and settled here in New Mexico.

The weekends were looked forward to in Mexico because of Saturday dances which were held in the surrounding towns. It was at one of these dances that he met Viviana the love of his life in 1952 and after a three-year courtship they were married on May 28, 1955. The Family moved to Mesilla, New Mexico in 1961 when Servando was hired to work on The Jimmy Harris Farm. Servando dedicated his Life to providing for his family of eight. He enjoyed listening to classical music, watching boxing and baseball, which in his youth he loved to play.

Servando's Catholic faith was very important to him and gave him great comfort throughout his life.

Servando is preceded in death by most of his siblings, his parents and his loving wife of 71 years. Servando is survived by His 6 Children, 16 grandchildren, 24 Great grandchildren and several step Great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held starting at 9am on June 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Health Church, 1178 N. Mesquite St., Las Cruces, New Mexico. A prayer vigil will be begin at 10 am and a funeral mass to follow at 10:30 am. Cremation is to follow services and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Joey, Afsheen, Ian, Alejandro René, Aaron and Santana. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons Jason, Armin, Noel Andrés, Rowan, and Mauro.
