Obituary

Sally Harper, age 78, of Las Cruces, NM passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2026 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Sally was born in Chester PA to James and Sara D Reeder. She attended school at Notre Dame High School (Moylan, Pennsylvania) and received her Associates Degree in Library Technology from New Mexico State University. Sally has worked for many companies and organizations over the years including the Defense Industrial Supply Center (DISC) - where she met her husband Julian, Allied Chemical, U.S. Army’s JAG Office, U.S. Census, and for the past 21 years has been working as a Library Technician at NMSU’s Dona Ana Community College (DACC).

Sally volunteered her time for many groups over the years, recently focusing on her local libraries; supporting the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, (as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, a Lector, with the RCIA/OCIA programs, and more); and the activities of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (locally, state, and nationally).

She was preceded in death by her husband Julian; her parents (James and Sara D); Aunts Margaret, Mary, and Anna; Uncle Tommy; several cousins; brother-in law Terry; and sister-in-law Ginger.

Sally is survived by her son Lance; brother James; sister-in-law Casey; and several cousins.

A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, starting at 10am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 South Espina, with a memorial mass to follow. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
