Samuel M. Montoya, 83, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, entered eternal life on November 07, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 24, 1940 to Concepcion and Gertrudes (Tula) Montoya. Samuel fondly known as Sammy, enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard, as a PVT E2 artillery division. He was employed at Lockhead (NASA) for 32 years before retiring. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

Survivors include his loving wife Aurora of 58 years, three children Samuel, Sylvia, and Rosalie Valenzuela (Larry). He is also survived by one brother, Frank (Chato) Montoya, 10 grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie (Mando), Valerie, Javier, David, Desirae, Gabriel, Santana, Alyssa and Scarlett. 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Getrudes and Concepcion Montoya, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 grandson Antonio (Tony) Valenzuela, 1 great grandson Eric Chavez.

A prayer vigil will be held on Tuesday November 21, 2023 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. Recitation of the Holy Rosary is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M. The Funeral Liturgy will follow. Inurnment and Rite of Committal will conclude at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Honorary bearers will include Samuel Montoya Jr., Angelina Montoya, Santana Montoya, Larry Rodriguez, Samantha Montoya, and Stephanie Avalos.

He will be remembered and greatly missed by all, for his sense of humor, infectious smile, love of music and dancing. Samuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle & friend.
