It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Samuel Vigil Hernandez, 66, of Las Cruces NM, by a sudden illness. A beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew.

He was born on March 2, 1957 in Silver City, NM. He obtained his Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in education at Western University in Silver City, NM. He was a teacher for 30+years certified in both New Mexico and Texas educating and preparing our next generation youth. You have been a friend, a counsellor, a mentor, a guide, an educator; a teacher to the end. The students were his life and he cared so much for their futures. His years of knowledge, strength, and humor will be cherished and greatly missed. Go REDSKINS!

He was survived by many family members and friends. Sam preceded in death by his mother Magdalena Vigil Bueno, and father Miguel Hernandez. May our Grand Creator take him into his hands now and guide him on his next journey.

There will be no memorial service at his request. Ashes will be spread in Grant and Sierra counties; firework memorial will be displayed in his honor (Date to be determined). We are going to miss you…
