Sal was a cook and pastry chef. He began his work at the Main Cafe in downtown Las Cruces and later worked at White Sands as a meat cutter. He then left to work in Fort Bliss, New Mexico State University, Memorial Medical Center and Truckstops of America. He was an avid bodybuilder and boxer and loved country music and western dance. He was a veteran and a member of the Catholic Church and the National Guard. He liked to go camping with his wife Felicitas and his five children. Salvador was married to Felicitas Lucero (deceased) for forty plus years and had five children, Thelma; (Sal-deceased); Janet;(Eddie); Sal junior;(Silvia); Jacqueline; (Gilbert); and Gabriel (Laura).

He is also survived by many grandchildren; great grandchildren; brothers, Sabino, John, Leonard, Albert, and Joe; and sisters Elsie, Mary and Stella.
