It is with great sadness we announce the passing of 100 year old Salvador D Chavez on August 8, 2024. He was born March 26, 1924 in San Marcial, NM to Besabe and Theofilo Chavez. Salvador served in the U.S Army during WWII, with the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. After the Army, Sal then worked for Lockheed as an aircraft mechanic on the B-17 Bomber. Later he moved to Las Cruces were he worked as a carpenter. He was strong with the union. Later on he worked as a millwright until his retirement. One thing that is true, he was 100% a LA Dodger fan. He definitely loved his Dodgers.

Those left to mourn him include his children Steve Chavez (Linda), MaryAnn Flores (Gus), Joanne Napoli, Sally Faulkerson (Stanley), and Bertha Chavez. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ida, second wife Natalia Chavez, third wife Juanita Chavez, sons Sammy Chavez and Fred Chavez and daughter Sandra Chavez.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday August 22, 2024 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S Espina Street. Visitations will begin at 09:30 A.M. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:30 A.M. and the Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 A.M. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 5140 W Picacho Avenue.

Serving as casket bearers include Gustavo Flores III, Orlando Flores Sr., Marlo Flores, Orlando Flores Jr., Jaime Chavez and Josh Garcia. Honorary bearers include Gustavo Flores Jr. and Steve Chavez.
