RUDY ALVAREZ, age 82, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his home surrounded by love and peace. Born May 8, 1943, to Maria Herrera and Brijido Alvarez, Rudy lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and country.
Rudy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he exemplified honor and commitment. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to White Sands Missile Range and then Citizens Bank, working as a manager until his retirement. His professionalism and integrity earned the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of the community he served.
A member of the Catholic Church, Rudy's life was guided by his deep faith and devotion. He was known for his kindness, humility, and steadfast presence, always offering encouragement and support to those around him.
Rudy's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. His memory will be cherished as a man of service, faith, and quiet strength.
Those left to mourn his passing include his son, Edward Alvarez and daughter, Naomi Alvarez all from Las Cruces; as well as three granddaughters; three stepsons, Jerry and James Lopez of Las Cruces and Johnny Lopez of Texas and numerous step-grandchildren. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Fred, Robert, Ismael and Silas Alvarez; and sister, Rosalie Hillis.
Visitation for Rudy will begin at 10AM Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, with the Prayer Vigil at 10:30AM. The Liturgy of the Word will follow immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue. Military honor will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment.
Serving as casket bearers will be his family and friends.
