Rose Marie Stanfill, 70, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 1st, 2026. Known affectionately by family and friends as "Squirty," Mrs. Stanfill was a devoted wife, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend. Above all, she was deeply committed to her faith, frequently offering prayers with her family, friends, and anyone in need, and was an avid reader of the Bible.

Rose was born in Los Angeles, California. She was a retired special education teacher who dedicated her career to supporting children with special needs. She also enjoyed a variety of interests including painting, puzzles, shopping, diamond art, cooking, traveling, and caring for pets.

Rose Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalie Henley; her brother, Tony Leyba; her sister, Mary Ann Kazhe; and her grandparents, Isabel and Nick Ojeda.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Stanfill Jr.; her daughters, Nicole Stanfill and Rena Holmes; granddaughters, Julissa Stanfill, Jade Holmes, and Jazlyn Holmes; sisters, Janette Lester and Luz Hernandez; brothers, Michael Hernandez and John Leyba; mother-in-law, Mary R. Stanfill; brother-in-law, Ronald L. Stanfill; sister-in-law, Bobbie Leyba; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Rose Marie will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2025 from 5 to 7pm at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road. A funeral service will be held the following day on Wednesday, January 14, 2025 at 10am at Baca's Funeral Chapels. At the family's request, cremation will follow after services.
