With deep love and gratitude, the family of MARIA DEL ROSARIO LICON GOMEZ, age 74, of Mesilla Park, announces her peaceful passing into eternal life on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home, surrounded by those who cherished her most.

Born July 7, 1951, in Villa Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Angela and Angel Licon, "Rosario", and/or "Chayo" as she was affectionately known, lived a life defined by devotion, humility, and quiet strength. She retired from Sara Lee Hosiery after many years of dedicated work as an inspector and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. Her kindness, warmth, and steady presence were gifts she shared generously with family, friends, and all who knew her.

Rosario's greatest joy was her family, who now carry her memory forward with love. Those left to mourn her passing include: a son, Marcos Licon (Michelle) of Las Cruces; two daughters, Abril Elena Gonzalez (Javier) of Santa Fe, and Debora Lujan of Las Cruces; brothers, Armando Licon (Betty) of San Antonio, TX, and Jose Licon (Cuca) of Phoenix, AZ; four sisters, Marta Licon, Adela Trujillo (Ruben), and Maria Antonia Aranda (Henry), all of Las Cruces; and Lucy Licon of Jacksonville, FL. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and seven great‑grandchildren, and she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever remember her gentle spirit.

Chayo was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gregorio I. Gomez, who passed on August 8, 2025; and her daughter, Emily Marie Gomez. Their reunion brings comfort to those who grieve her earthly absence.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, followed by the Prayer Vigil at 10:00 AM. The Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated immediately afterward. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.

Serving as casket bearers are Henry, Marcos, Aaron, Andrew, Ruben, Adrian, Javier, and Jacob.

Rosario's life was a testament to love, perseverance, and faith. Her memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
