RODOLFO "RUDY" MENDOZA BURCIAGA, age 76, of Mesquite entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX. "Rudy" as he was known to family and friends was born January 1, 1948, in El Paso, TX., to Socorro Mendoza and Santiago Burciaga. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. After the military he was employed with Sara Lee Hosiery for over 31 years as a supervisor, then worked with the Gadsden Independent School District for 7 years, as a mail carrier. Rudy was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Dora Lerma Burciaga of Mesquite; sons, Armando Burciaga (Mary) of El Paso, TX., and Ricardo Jordan (Fabrina) of Las Cruces; daughter, Anabel Castaneda (Arnie) of Scottdale, AZ., brother, Santiago "Jimmy" Burciaga Jr., (Lucy) of Anthony, NM and three sisters, Rosa Murrillo (Rogelio) of Vinton, TX., Sofia Nunez (Arturo) of Anthony, NM., and Patsy Padilla (Israel) of Santa Teresa, NM. Other survivors include 7 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Marisela Murrillo, and other family members.
Visitation for Rudy will begin at 9:30 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 228 Lincoln Street in Anthony, where the Prayer Vigil will begin at 10 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM with The Reverend Jesus Mena, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Anthony Community Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the family plot. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Marines Corps League El Perro Diablo Detachment.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jesus and Rogelio Murrillo, Nikki Enriquez, Ricky Jordan, Arnie Castaneda, Tury Nunez, Benjamin, and Armando Burciaga. Honorary bearers are Nikki Enriquez, Jr., and Joshua Murrillo.
