Robert (Bob) R Lansford, 86, was called to heaven on February 2, 2024. Bob was born to John Lansford and Fanny "Eura" Lansford in Rincon, New Mexico on March 31, 1937. Bob married the love of his life, Mary I Lerke on February 9, 1958. They eventually settled in Las Cruces, NM where they raised four boys and a daughter. Through thick and thin they never left each other's side.
Raised in the farming community of Hatch, New Mexico, Bob developed a deep love for agriculture that eventually led to him attending New Mexico State University where he achieved both his bachelors and masters in agricultural economics. He then attended the University of Minnesota where he received his PhD., and then in 1965 moved back home to Las Cruces, New Mexico and NMSU as a faculty member.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, John and Eura Lansford, his brothers Winnie (WT) Lansford, John (Bud) Lansford, Bill Lansford, Jack Lansford, and EJ Lansford.
He left behind his wife Mary, children: Tyson Lansford, Vernon Lansford, Jason Lansford (Cindy), Lori Riggs (Dale) and Kurt Lansford (Mary); five grandchildren, Jonathan McCarson (Alexandria), Justin McCarson (LaRissa), Krystle McCarson, Joellen Renck (Bryce), and Jeffrey Lansford; eight great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Bob lived a full life, he was loved and respected by many, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and touched many lives throughout his years as a College Professor at NMSU. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10am Friday, March 15, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road.
