Robert Flores Gonzales, a devoted husband, father, brother, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. He was born on July 24, 1946, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Josie and Miguel Gonzales.

Robert lived a life rooted in service, humility, and dedication. He served honorably in the United States Army, a commitment he carried with quiet pride throughout his life. He worked for Las Cruces Public Schools as a custodian at Mayfield High School, where he became a familiar and friendly presence to generations of students and staff. His work ethic, kindness, and steady spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalee Gonzales; his son, James Gonzales; his daughter, Caroline Legarda; his brother, Edward Gonzales; and his sisters, Lucy Gonzales and Racheal Gonzales. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Gonzales.

A prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, located at 5525 Cristo Rey Street. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 10:30 A.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M.

Cremation will take place after the services. Inurnment is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Doña Ana Cemetery where he will receive full military honors.

Robert's legacy lives on in the love he shared, the service he gave, and the family who will forever cherish his memory.
