ROBERT DOYLE, a distinguished leader in cybersecurity, education, and public service, passed away, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be woven into the fabric of New Mexico's academic and professional communities. More importantly, he leaves behind a reputation as a genuine, caring, and steady presence, someone who quietly made life better for everyone around him. As a proud contributor to the Aggie community, Robert's work and mentorship reflected the values of New Mexico State University: service, excellence, and lifting others through knowledge.

Robert served as the Vice President of Cybersecurity, Audit, and Compliance with Audit & Compliance Services, LLC (ACS), where his expertise and steady leadership guided organizations through an increasingly complex security landscape. Colleagues often relied on his calm judgment and steady voice, knowing he approached every challenge with fairness and sincerity.

For 21 years, Robert taught networking and cybersecurity as an Assistant Professor, inspiring students across southern New Mexico and beyond. Teaching wasn't just a job for him it was a calling. He took time with his students, made difficult concepts feel manageable, and never missed a chance to encourage someone chasing a dream. Robert embodied the spirit of NMSU's commitment to education, helping students rise, discover their strengths, and build lasting careers in technology and security. Many of his former students still speak of him not just as a professor, but as a mentor and friend.

Robert also served as the Chair of the Doña Ana County Internal Audit Advisory Committee (DAC‑IAAC), applying his expertise to strengthen transparency and governance throughout the region. His career included essential leadership roles such as Interim Chief Information Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Privacy Officer, IT Compliance Officer, and IT Auditor. Whether guiding a department or serving on a committee, Robert approached every responsibility with humility, earnestness, and the quiet grit of an Aggie at heart.

A Distinguished Alumni, Robert continued to support and uplift the academic community as a member of ISACA, ALGA, ACUA, IIA, and Educause. A sought-after presenter on both local and national stages, he shared his knowledge generously never seeking the spotlight, but always willing to help elevate the cybersecurity profession and champion the importance of continual learning.

One of Robert's most meaningful contributions was establishing the David Valdez Memorial Cybersecurity Endowed Scholarship, ensuring that aspiring cybersecurity professionals at Doña Ana Community College would have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. This act of kindness and foresight perfectly reflected who Robert was someone who believed deeply in helping others find their path.

Robert will be remembered not only for his intelligence and professional accomplishments, but for his kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to helping others succeed. His legacy continues through the students he taught, the colleagues he guided, and the many lives he touched throughout the Aggie community and beyond.

Most of all, Robert will be remembered as a friend steady, loyal, and true.

Visitation for Robert will be from 5 PM to 7 PM Friday, July 31, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, Las Cruces, with the Prayer Vigil and Liturgy of the Word to begin at 7 PM. The Graveside service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Mountain View Cemetery, 3410 E. Pine Street in Deming, NM 88030 where he will be laid to rest.
