Robert Cantu, age 71, passed away on June 24, 2026. He was born on October 16, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Robert T. Cantu and Manuela (Nellie) Vasquez Cantu. Robert was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose kindness and steady presence touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delia Cantu, his son, Fernando Cantu, and daughter, Misty Spiers, in addition to six grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Rose Cantu Babin.

Robert worked for Southwest University in El Paso, Texas for the past 10 years. He was an instructor in the Business and the Culinary Arts departments. He will be missed by administration, faculty, staff and his many students.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, located at 300 E. Boutz Road. Visitations will begin at 5:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 6:00 P.M. Following services, cremation will take place, and private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Robert will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, and the deep love he carried for his family. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
