It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of ROBERT L. ARCHULETA, "Archie" a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Archuleta, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on April 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, at the age of 88. "Baba" as he was lovingly known to his family, was born May 22, 1936, to Edward and Virginia Archuleta.  Mr. Archuleta leaves behind the legacy of love and kindness. A man whose impact on our lives is immeasurable. Mr. Archuleta was more than just a grandfather, he was the monarch of the family, a storyteller, teacher, and a constant source of wisdom and love. Our "Baba" had a way of making each of us feel special, whether he was teaching us to fish, sharing tales of his youth, chasing hot air balloons, or simply sitting in silence.

His presence was a gift, his laugher was contagious, his advice was priceless, and his love was unconditional. Baba enjoyed washing and keeping his 1967 Ford truck and 2014 Ford Mustang clean. Baba was one of the original students at MacArthur Elementary when it was founded in 1941.  Mr. Archuleta served his Country in the United States Navy in 1955.  Mr. Archuleta's life was a testament to hard work, working as a Correctional Officer in Arizona for several years. He then worked as a Surveyor with the City of Las Cruces, where he moved on to be a Supervisor at the Physical Planet with New Mexico State University. After retirement, Mr. Archuleta continued to work as a Security Officer for 10 years. It was then when Archie finally enjoyed his retirement.

Mr. Archuleta was preceded in death by his father, Edward Archuleta; mother, Virginia Archuleta; stepfather, Juan Santana; two brothers, Eddie Archuleta, and Jimmy Archuleta; his aunt, Genoveva Enriquez; sister-in-law, Alice Archuleta, and great nephew, Exavier Wallace as well as many other loved ones.   Those left to mourn his passing include his lovely wife, Isabel Archuleta whom he was married for 61 beautiful years; daughter, Elizabeth Archuleta, son, Ruben "44" Archuleta, and his wife Christina Archuleta; his grandchildren, Tahisha Rodriguez (Jesus Baca), Tanya Rodriguez (Samuel Escalante Jr.), Tracy Bernal (Steve Adams), David Bernal, Matthew Archuleta, and his wife, Victoria Archuleta. He also left behind his 14 great-grandchildren whom he cherished, Adrian Baca, Geraldine Baca, Rubi Baca, Samuel Escalante III, Jaelynn Escalante, Gabriel Escalante, Jacob Carmona, Stephen Carmona, Briseis Adams, David Bernal Jr., Christian Bernal, Klarissa Archuleta, Roman Archuleta, and Eli Archuleta; two brothers, Arturo Archuleta, and Stanley Santana; two sisters, Virginia Santana and Annette Santana.

All though our Baba left us, his legacy lives on in the values he instilled in us, the wonderful memories we cherish, and the love he shared so freely. We will miss his warm hugs, his words of encouragement and his unwavering support. Baba, you will always be our HERO, our confidant, and our guiding light. You will live forever in our hearts.

At his request cremation has taken place and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Funeral Liturgy to follow immediately thereafter. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment
