We are heartbroken to announce the death of our mother, Rita M. Villegas. She passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023 at the age of 77. She was born on February 26, 1946 in Alamosa, Colorado to the late Malaquias and Arabella Maria Manzanares.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe M Villegas of 46 years and brother Raul Manzanares.

She is survived by her children, Joe Henry "Boy" Villegas, Laura Garcia, Barbara Villegas and Amanda Villegas. Seven grandchildren, Vanessa Perez (Isaac), Tynia Carrasco-Deutsch (Ben), Teal'c Carrasco, Destiny Jo "DJ" Villegas, Jacob Mancha, Joshua Mancha and Will Smith. Three Great grandchildren, Jestine, Eddie III and Evan Garcia. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Manzanares (Anna), Robert Manzanares (Virginia) and sister Darlene VonSchiltz. Also many nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was raised in Las Cruces New Mexico and attend Las Cruces High School. She was a member at Emmanuel Baptist Church.  She enjoyed game night with her family, crocheting, bingo and her trips to the casinos. She will always be remembered for her strong faith in the Lord and unconditional love for her family.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in ther hometown in Colorado.
Family would like extend our gratitude to all Doctors, Nurses and Staff in the ICU department at Memorial Medical Center. Also to all family and friends for their support, prayers and thoughts.
