Richard Soliz Serna, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, passed away on November 16, 2023 in Las Cruces, NM.

He was born August 18, 1945, in Rincon, NM to Manuela Soliz and Jose Angel Serna.

His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He adored Nicole Campos, Richard Alexander, Andrew Sauceda, Danielle Hernandez, Taylor Serna, Amylynn "Nani" Serna, and great grandchildren Ethan Campos and Ella Hernandez.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Estella Serna, two sons Richard Serna Jr. (Christy Jo), and Orlando Serna (Yvette De La O). Two daughters Yolanda Alexander (Oscar Garibay), and Berlinda Yarnell (Philip Yost). He also leaves two brothers Benny and Pete Serna, three sisters Juanita Mendoza, Lydia Boalts, and Corina Galvan.

He was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Las Cruces Bulldawgs, and New Mexico State Aggies.  He worked for NMSU and retired after 32 years as a Groundskeeper.  If you worked for, or with him, you knew he was a perfectionist and very meticulous about his work.  He was a great teacher and mentor.  He loved the outdoors and loved to work on his yard.  He loved helping his children/grandchildren, watching sports and going to the casino with his wife and family.
