Father John Tickle, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

John was born in El Paso, Texas on December the 16, 1941. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in 1967 for service of the Diocese of El Paso, TX. He served in various diocesan ministries.

In 1980, Fr. Tickle was transferred to be pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he served until 1984. Afterwards, he served the newly created Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces in various diocesan ministries. Fr. Tickle retired from the ministry in 2004.

Fr. Tickle was preceded in death by his parents Harper and Lily Stedmond Tickle and stepmother Helen Joyce Tickle, all of El Paso, TX, and a brother Tom of York, PA.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Anita Tickle of York; a niece, Gretchen Morton of Clarksville, MD; nephew, Patrick Tickle of San Francisco, CA; one stepbrother John Joyce; and three stepsisters, Sister Pat Joyce, S.L., Linda Joyce, and Margaret Rodgers. He is also survived by his "adopted family" of many years, Elfego (deceased) and Josephine Chavez of Fairacres and their family.

A funeral mass will be at 10am on December 20, 2023, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 South Espina Street. Inurnment will follow.
