REBECCA ANNE VALTIERRA March 13, 1982 - August 10, 2026"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."Matthew 5:4Rebecca Anne "Becky" Valtierra, age 44, entered eternal rest after a hard-fought battle with breast cancer. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, Godmother, and dear friend to many. She will always be remembered as a go-getter and as someone who would light up a room with her infectious smile. She was a hard-working Bank of America manager for several years and took pride in being independent. So full of joy and life, she was able to fulfill several items on her bucket list, such as traveling to various states to taste new foods, going to concerts (everything from Mana to Metallica to Garth Brooks in between), seeing the first sunrise that hits the U.S. (Maine), and to visit as many lighthouses as possible. She didn’t get to see her Yankees in New York but she did travel to attend a Dallas Cowboys game. And although she loved to travel, she made sure to support her local communities as well. She enjoyed volunteering at the El Paso Food Bank and placing Christmas wreaths at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Her faith was also extremely important to her, and she made it an annual tradition to hike the A Mountain to honor our beloved Virgen de Guadalupe.Softball was also one of the many things that made her smile. She fell in love with the sport as early as Little League and was truly sad when she could no longer play due to her health issues. She still attended many games and cheered-on all the friends she had made along the way, friends who eventually became like family to her. She graduated with honors from Gadsden High School in 2000 where she also played various sports and was a dedicated member of several clubs. She also attended New Mexico State University where she played clarinet with the Pride Band. Most of all, though, she loved her family and she became the ultimate game organizer during family reunions: the sillier, the better such as holding a cellphone on our foreheads because she loved to laugh! The memory of the light that her presence always brought will be missed by many.She is survived by her parents, Joe and Carmen Valtierra of Chamberino, NM; her daughter Bethany Gonzales (Joseph Ramos), her granddaughter Brooklyn of Clovis, NM; sister Kristina Saiz (Fulgencio); their children Eryn and Ramiro Saiz (Godson) of Puerto de Luna, NM; James Raul Provencio (Godson) of La Mesa, NM. Rebecca is also survived by her companion David Flores and their beloved fur babies Riley and Sadie of the family home in Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Paulita Renteria of Carlsbad, NM, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Vicente Renteria, her aunt Leandra Renteria; her paternal grandmother Otilia Valtierra; aunts Romie Apodaca, Flora Chavira; cousin Carrie Apodaca; uncles Ernie, Jeff, and Manny Valtierra. She leaves many, many memories with all her wonderful friends and family. Her infectious smile will never be forgotten.A rosary will be held at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, 5035 Holsome Rd., Las Cruces, NM 88011, Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass.
