RAYMOND E. CASPER, a loving and devoted grandfather and resident of Las Cruces, NM, died on June 13, 2024, at 85 years young. He was known to many as "Ray" or even "Casper."
Ray is survived by his granddaughters; Dawn Rogers and her son and daughter, Mallisa Hernandez and her son, Doreen Daum and her daughter, and Alejandra (Ale) Frazier and her 4 daughters and two sons. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Hernandez (Turpen); brother Harold Casper, and Jarold Casper; his mother, Florence Weller, and father, John Casper.
Ray was born in Nebraska on August 22, 1938, he worked on the family farm. He was drafted in the United States Army from '62-'64 then the reserves and was discharged in '68, he served time at White Sands and would travel to Las Cruces during this time. While in the reserves he started to manage Tommy's Roller Rink, this is where his legacy began.
Ray was always a kind and caring man, he always cared for everyone who went to the skating rink. He would watch over the kids until parents were there to get them, he made sure everyone was safe. He loved picking on people and make them laugh, he knew how to make others smile and have a good time. He loved skating, baking, and spending time with his grandkids. He has helped many people learn different things in life, he truly only wanted the best for others. He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him.
A viewing is scheduled from 5 PM to 7 PM Friday, June 28, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. His remains will be returned home to Nebraska.
