Ramon S. Chavez 12/07/1951 - 11/05/2025
His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him
He was born on 12/07/1951 in Delicias Chihuahua Mexico to Cristobal and Maria Chavez, who moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico shortly afterwards. Ramon lived all his life in Las Cruces, and he attended Mayfield High School while working on the farm.
Ramon first worked in the janitorial field, then maintenance and finishing a long career in construction. He designed, remodeled, and built houses. He was a very skillful man being able to do anything from concrete finishing to carpentry. He met the love of his life Tomasita Valles in 1967, and they dated for five years before getting married in 1973. They had two children a son Ramon V. Chavez Jr was born in 1974, and a daughter Inez V. Chavez was born in 1980. Ramon had five grandchildren Raymon, Michael, Cruz, Avi and Santino Chavez. His favorite role was being a present grandfather to all his grandchildren in their academics and sports activities. His hobbies were painting, drawing, and hunting, which he loved the most. During his lifetime he harvested plenty of deer and elk. Ramon will always be remembered by all his friends and family as a generous and outing man enjoying the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife Tomasita Chavez his son Ramon Jr. and his wife Vanessa Chavez with four of his grandchildren Raymon, Michael, Avi and Santino Chavez. His surviving siblings are Tonia, Sylivia, Jose Luis, Isreal, and Chris Chavez. He is preceded in death by his parents Cristobal and Maria Chavez, his daughter Inez V. Chavez, a grandson Cruz J. Chavez and his siblings Amelia, Gustavo, Edwardo, and Arturo Chavez.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3600 Paroquia Street. Visitations will begin at 09:00 A.M. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. and the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Interment and Rite of Committal will conclude at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue.
Serving as casket bearers are Ramon V. Chavez Jr, Raymon Chavez, Michael Chavez, Luis Chavez, Isreal Chavez and Leo Valles. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Gallegos, Lupe Gallegos, and Jose Hernadez.
