Obituary

PRISCILLA PIÑO SERNA, age 83, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life on Friday, May 8, 2026. She was born October 8, 1942, in Ojito Frio, New Mexico, to Bernarda Pacheco and Jose Treviño Piño.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother, Priscilla lived a life rooted in faith, family, and simple joys. She worked for many years as a bus driver with the Las Cruces Public Schools, where she was known for her steady presence and kind heart. A proud member of the Catholic Church, she carried her faith quietly but deeply throughout her life.

Priscilla enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and she never passed up a chance to visit the casino. But above all, her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.

She is survived by her six children: sons, Louis Ray Serna (Dolores), Joseph Angel Serna, Freddie Piño Serna (Rebecca), and Antonio Serna (Angelica); and daughters, Debora Yvonne Serna and Lorraine DiMatteo (Ernest). She is also survived by her brothers, Manuel Piño (Berlinda), Eddie Piño (Maria), Joe Robert Piño, and Gerald Piño (Vanessa); and her sisters, Margaret Piño and Diane Piño.

Priscilla leaves behind 11 cherished grandchildren, 7 great‑grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jose Luis Solis Serna, who passed on August 28, 2015; and many other family members who welcomed her home.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road, followed by a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina Street, with Reverend Theophine Okafor, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue, where Priscilla will be laid to rest beside her loving husband in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers are Steven Ray Serna, Christopher Fred Serna, Christopher Dan Trujillo, Demitrius Genaro DiMatteo, Dominic Carmine DiMatteo, Nicolas Antonio Serna, Arianna Faith Serna, and Nate Anthony Serna.

Priscilla's life was a blessing to all who knew her. Her love, strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
