PILAR R. ORTEGA, age 83, passed away peacefully in California on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Born October 18, 1941, Pilar lived a life marked by quiet strength, devotion to family, and enduring faith.

A man of deep values and gentle spirit, Pilar will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his love of tradition, and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew him. His journey touched many—from California to New Mexico—and his memory will continue to be cherished by family, friends, and community.

Visitation will begin at 5 PM Friday, November 14, 2025, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road in Las Cruces, followed by a Prayer Vigil at 6 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 AM Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road, where Pilar will be laid to rest.
