Phillip James Tyler (Phil), of Las Cruces, NM met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday 2 March 2024 at the age of 85 years 7 months and 16 days.

James and Mildred Tyler's first son was born in Muskegon, Michigan. Phil joined the US Air Force serving in Wyoming, Japan and South Carolina. It was in South Carolina he met the love of his life, Arlene. He and Arlene married in Charleston and with a ready made family of three children, their adventure began. From adding two more children to the family, converting an old school bus to a camper, traveling across the US, Canada in motorcycles and Airstreams, visiting 7 countries in Europe and residing in Michigan, Nebraska, Texas and New Mexico, Phil embraced every day of his life. He is known for saying, "If the Good Lord has me here another day, I need to make the most of it".

Phil is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Marguerite Arlene (nee Slater); his children Linda DeCheney (Michigan), Marvin Packett and wife Melissa (Texas), Shelly Bucher and husband David Burleson (New Mexico), Rocky Tyler and wife Susan (Florida) and Michelle Briggs and husband Shawn (New Mexico); 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Stanley and Harvey and his son-in-law Joseph DeCheney.

A celebration of Phil's life will be held on Friday 12 April 2024, 200 p.m. at the Trails West Community Clubhouse; burial will be at the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at a future date.
