Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and dear friend, PETRA AVILA GARIBAY, age 95, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born June 29, 1929, in Van Horn, TX., to Maria Jasso and Guadalupe Avila. Petra was a loving, caring homemaker that enjoyed seasonal work at Stahmann Farms. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren.

She is survived by her 3 children; son, Arturo Garibay; 2 daughters, Dora Garibay (Jack Thompson) all from El Paso, TX., and Estella Flores (Gabriel Garcia) of Las Cruces; her brother, Armando Avila (Gabina) of Hobbs; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephew. Petra was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Manuel B. Garibay; son Manuel Garibay, Jr; 2 brothers, Tomas, and Vicente Avila.

At her request cremation has taken place and the Prayer Vigil will be held at 9:30 AM Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street with the Memorial Mass immediately thereafter. Inurnment of cremains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where she will be place with her loving husband.

Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
