On February 16, 2025, Our Lord opened the gate to Heaven for eternal rest to OTILIA MUNOZ SINGH. Otilia was born in Tortugas, New Mexico on December 13, 1936, to Efren and Luz Munoz. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. Otilia worked for Haines hosiery and later retired from the City of Las Cruces. She died peacefully after a long-fought battle with dementia. She touched the hearts of many friends and relatives and will be remembered for her kindness and special ability to make others feel valued and cared for. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Lucas "Chito" Singh; her sons, David Munoz (Anita), Nick Mavroleon (Valerie) and Anthony Lucas Singh; her sister, Bernice (Frank) Trujillo; her brothers, Alfredo Munoz of Dona Ana, and Ernesto "Neto" Munoz from Tortugas; her two sisters-in-law, Lucy from Tortugas and Marie from Los Lunas; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, and nephews. Otilia was preceded in death by her parents, Luz, and Efren Munoz; her sisters, Alicia Lucero, and Aurora Rich; brothers, Ruben, Arturo, Efren Jr., Roberto, Raul, and Hector "Sungie."
A very special thank you to her best friend and cousin Rosalie Portillo for her tireless days and nights she spent with her during the difficult times. We would also want to recognize and extend a heartfelt thanks to her caregivers and friends: Yoli, Estella, Lena, and Jeanette.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 14, 2025 at The Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas. She was cremated per her wishes, as discussed with her son Tony many years ago. Inurnment of cremains will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery.
