Otilia Maria Borunda, affectionately known as "OT Borunda" a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Otilia (OT) was born August 27, 1948 to Magdalena and Sebastian Muñoz. Otilia lived a life committed to her husband of 53 years and devoted to her children and many grandchildren who she taught to cook and bake. Many fond memories were made in her kitchen, where she shared recipes and time-tested traditions of cooking and baking. She served her community with compassion as a Certified Nursing Assistant, offering care and comfort to countless individuals throughout her career.
Otilia is survived by her daughters, Amy Borunda (spouse Rene Carrasco) and Raquel Cuaron-Larmey (spouse Kenny Larmey) and son-in-law Fernando Orozco; Grandchildren Jonathan, Brandon, Orlando, Mariah, Jake, Adreana, Justyn, Ronnie III, Jovanni, Ruby, Xavier, Serenity, Michael, Ariana, Cameron, Julianne and many Great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Fernando Muñoz, Victor Muñoz, and Ricardo Muñoz; and her sisters Jane Lopez and Nellie Guerrero.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Ronald Borunda Sr; her son Ronald Borunda Jr.; her daughter Anna Orozco; and her siblings Santiago "Jimmy" Muñoz, Josefina Sepulveda, Guadalupe Muñoz, Delfina Muñoz, and Antonio "Tony" Muñoz.
A prayer vigil will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, located at 1240 S. Espina Street. The Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M., followed by the Celebration of the Mass at 10:30 A.M. Inurnment and the Rite of Committal will conclude at the IHM Columbarium.
Otilia's memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew her, She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and unwavering love. Otilia opened her home to family and many friends sharing great times and great food.
