OSCAR GAMBOA was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2024. Oscar was born in Las Cruces, to Alfredo Gamboa and Genoveva Luna on June 2, 1957. After living in Tucson, Arizona for numerous years, Oscar returned to his home state where he spent his time near his siblings.

Oscar served in the Army National Guard and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. Oscar was a great protector of all those he loved. His strength and resilience in the face of adversity was truly inspiring for many of us. In his younger years he loved to show off his muscle endurance, strength, agility, and stamina. Oscar found both his passions, by day he made a career as a house painter and by night his passion was fishing. He loved to spend his time outdoors, next to the water, with a fishing pool in hand and with his children. Oscar enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends including grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and mostly looked forward to visits from his children.

He loved to sit and watch his favorite shows, especially the Miami Dolphins play, and eating Ice Cream. "He loved his Ice Cream."

Survivors include two sons, Oscar Gamboa, Jr., (Gypsy Jordan) of Pine, AZ., and Nicholas Gamboa of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Genevieve Gamboa of Panama City Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Amariah, Neveah, and Alyana Gamboa; his brothers, Victor Gamboa (Julia) of Albuquerque and Ramiro Gamboa (Frances) of Las Cruces; sisters, Esther Gamboa (Mike Molinar), Patricia Corral (Arturo) all of Las Cruces, and Maria Luisa Herrera (Jose) of Gadsden, AL., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Alfredo Gamboa, Jr.

Visitation for Oscar will begin at 2 PM Monday, January 29, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Prayer Vigil at 3 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated immediately thereafter. At his request cremation will take place and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Marines Corps League El Perro-Diablo Detachment.
