Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Orlando Gonzalez announces his passing on March 17, 2026. Orlando was born to Maria C. Gonzalez and Louie P. Escalante on December 4, 1982, in El Paso, Texas.

For those whose lives he touched, Orlando was known as a caring, loving, and unbiased soul. He welcomed all with open arms and an open heart. His laughter and ability to make others laugh was his highest trademark. Orlando's passion of music and auto body work was well known in his community. He took pride in his work as an auto-body technician, and this was obvious through his prized restorations of several projects, which appeared at multiple auctions and shows.

Orlando is survived by his parents, Louie P. Escalante and Maria C. Gonzalez; by his siblings Juan Rodriguez (Ines Rodriguez), Mario Rodriguez, Eric Gonzalez, Russell Campos, Louie Escalante, and Jacob Escalante; also, by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Orlando was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sara and Louie Escalante; his maternal grandmother, Eliadora Lopez Davilla; and his uncle Jaime Escalante. Of which whose memories remained a guiding presence throughout his life.

A visitation will take place at the Baca's Funeral Chapel (300 E. Boutz Rd, Las Cruces, NM) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday March 27, 2026. Orlando will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
