NARCISA MARIA MARTINEZ CONTRERAS, age 96, of Anthony, New Mexico entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in Maricopa, Arizona. She was born December 28, 1926, in Anthony, NM to Ramona Madrid Padilla and Thomas Martinez. Narcisa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, dear friend, and a devout Catholic.

Survivors include her son, Ruben Contreras (Leslie) of Anthony, NM; five daughters, Martha Burciaga (Raul) and Irene Hern (Ted) all of Albuquerque, NM, Sylvia Garcia of Maricopa, AZ, Ramona Zapien (Rene) of Phoenix, AZ, and Norma Contreras (Felix) of Austin, TX, and her sister, Chita Alderete of El Paso, TX.  Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Narcisa was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eliseo Contreras, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Narcisa was a great cook and was known throughout the community for her "tamales." She was always happy to make a favorite dish requested by any family member (fried chicken, gorditas, chile rellenos, chicken tacos) the list is endless. She also loved playing cards and going to Casinos and often convinced family members (kids, grandchildren, and various extended family members) to take her to any Casino within the vicinity. Our family was truly blessed to have such a beautiful "little lady" in our lives and for so many years.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday, August 10, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 10 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Anthony Community Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband in the family plot.

Serving as casket bearers will be Benjamin and Mario Zapien, David and Aaron Garcia, Ruben Contreras, Jr., Gian Carlo Osorio, and Robert Castaneda.
