MONICA "MONIQUITA" ASTORGA de HINOJOS was called to her eternal Heavenly Home on September 13, 2024. She was a faithful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She was born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico to Natalio Astorga and Guadalupe Burciaga. She was raised in Mexico and later moved to Stahmann Farms and San Miguel, NM. She was an active member of the San Miguel Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister, Rosary group, and fund-raising group. She was the spiritual foundation of her family, always leading by example in her religious and pious life for family and friends. She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
She is survived by her two sons, Augustin Hinojos (Lillian), children, Elizabeth and Alejandro from El Paso, TX; son, Tony Hinojos Jr. (Marielos), children, Ana Victoria and Isabela from Dallas, TX; her three daughters, Marisol Hinojos, Rose Mary Montoya (Martin), children, Marcus, and Stephen; and Yolanda "Yoli" Hinojos, and her son, Miguel, all from Las Cruces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antonio R. Hinojos; two brothers, Joaquin, and Jose Isabel Astorga; and sister, Francisca.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Visitation for Mrs. Hinojos will begin at 1 PM Monday, September 23, 2024, at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Highway 28 in San Miguel with the Prayer Vigil at 2:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with The Reverend Alonso Quinonez, Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the San Miguel Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons and other family members.
