Obituary

With a heavy heart and deep sadness, we announce that our Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Miguel Mendez, entered eternal life at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 22, 2023 at the age of 94.

Miguel was born in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico on October 7, 1929, and was a resident of Dona Ana County for over 50 years. He was a plumber for 52 years and was also a member of the Local Union #412 of Plumbers and Pipefitters for 25 years.  After he retired he enjoyed attending the Munson Senior Center where he loved to play pool and make new friends. His favorite pass time was singing and reading his bible & watching his favorite show "Walker Texas Ranger" He was a member of the Templo Bethel church for 13 years.  He will be deeply missed by his family & friends.

Miguel is survived by his two sons, Joe D Mendez of Las Cruces, NM; Ruben Mendez (Diana) of Rio Rancho, NM; one daughter Susana M. Lopez of Las Cruces, NM ; his granddaughter & great grandson who he adored and raised as his own children Sonja DeeAnn Salaiz and Joe Michael "Mikie" Mendez both of Las Cruces, NM.  His grandchildren, Monica, Pablo & Dominic Garica, Anthony Ray Holguin, Isreal, Ivan, Joel & Stephen Lopez, Vanessa, Cynthia & Ashley Mendez, Rebecca & Raquel Covarrubias as well as many great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Susana Delgado Mendez; his sons, Edmundo Covarrubias and Miguel Mendez Jr and his two daughters, Sylvia Loretta Garcia & Linda Rose Aceves.

Serving as Casket bearers will be Joe Michael Mendez, Israel Lopez, Joel Lopez, Pablo Garcia, Dominic Garcia & Anthony "Ray Ray" Holguin Jr. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be Nathaniel Garcia, Alijah Holguin, Andrew Holguin & Stephen Lopez

The family would like to extend a very special Thank you and express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Fersenius Kidney Care on Foothills, Deming Medical Transportation, High Desert Hospice, Enhabit Home Health, his nurse "Gigi" and his caregiver "Gabi" and so many friends for all of their kindness and support shown to "Grandpa".

A visitation for Miguel will be held at 9am, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 East Boutz Road. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10am with Pastor Hector Vega officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 West Picacho Avenue.
